Outstanding Hospitality Award Goes to Lula Cafe
Lula Cafe, the 25-year-old restaurant in Logan Square, earned Chicago’s only James Beard Award of 2024 for Outstanding Hospitality due to its service “as a beacon for the community.” During his acceptance speech, founder and chef Jason Hammel stated, “We truly believe at Lula that hospitality is love and it’s a love with conditions, and we believe the conditions can be just and fair and kind.” Hammel continues to be a beacon for the culinary community with his Chef Collaboration Series at Marisol, where he has been the Culinary Curator since its opening in 2017.
